Stirling Murray left his job as Director General of the cosmetics company Bourjois after deciding he didn’t want to relocate to Paris. With 25 years’ experience in the personal care and cosmetics industry, he was keen to set up on his own. However, he had enjoyed and been very successful in corporate life and feared the loss of structure, security and prestige offered by corporate life.
"Half a year after leaving my job, I had a rush of doubt and I went to see Simon for six sessions. He focused me on sticking to my original plan. Simon is very good at making you aware of your strengths and the possibilities that arise from them. We spoke a lot about my values and my background and I recognized my key strengths were in developing people and brands. Simon helped me with decision making and assuaged my doubts. Most people have less confidence in themselves than someone who sees them objectively.
My major doubt was about building a business without infrastructure. But The Core Business is now well established - and I’ve done it! Amongst other things, we now distribute brands into major retailers, create and build brands both for us and for retailers and client companies, provide own label and low cost manufacturing and provide management consultancy. Simon was of great benefit in helping me focus on my strengths and I would highly recommend him and Career Balance."

Simon Newsham is a tax lawyer who runs his own successful business. He decided to consider using the services of Career Balance at a time when he felt he needed expert guidance on the different options available to him at that stage of his working life.
Simon found us on the recruitment pages of a legal website.
"I was very impressed with the approach. It seemed fresh and yet still highly practical. I would mostly leave my coaching sessions feeling very enthused about my future direction and with a clearer sense of what could be achieved."
He found his coach, Suki Bahra, to be very focused on what he enjoyed doing and what he didn’t.
"She gave me excellent ideas about alternative options and jobs in different industries. Suki always followed up with an action plan with key bullet points and timescales which would be reviewed at our next meeting. It was a very useful way of maintaining focus."
"It was good to have someone knowledgeable to bounce ideas off and to provide a different perspective. And to work with someone who understood the legal profession was invaluable."
