We learned yesterday that Howard Schultz is giving to step down as executive chairman of Starbucks, the company he founded 35 years ago. Now he’s considering standing against Donald Trump in the next US presidential election in 2020.
Mr Schultz won a scholarship to Northern Michigan University. After working in sales for Xerox, he went on to run a 20-person Seattle coffee company that he eventually transformed into Starbucks. There are now more than 28,000 stores globally. Not bad for someone who was the son of a truck driver and grew up in a tough neighbourhood of New York.
